soup's main ingredient. But his wife's sickness continued, so friends
and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the
farmer butchered the pig. The farmer's wife did not get well; she
died.
So many people came for her funeral, the farmer had the cow slaughtered
to provide enough meat for all of them.
The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great
sadness.
So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and think it
doesn't concern you, remember -- when one of us is threatened, we are
all at risk. We are all involved in this journey called life. We must
keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage
one another.

One of the best things to hold onto in this world is a friend.

Besides the fact that Serendipity is one of my FAVORITE movies...Blake and I went to have lunch this past week at Serendipity 3 in NYC and actually sat at this very table, where Kate Beckensale and John Cusack sat in the movie!! How awesome is that?? We also indulged in a little tasty treat like the ones in the movie...Peanut Butter Frozen Hot Chocolate....YUMMMMMM!!!

MY BIG TRIP TO THE "BIG APPLE"

Me on Liberty Island. This was my first trip to the "Big Apple" and Lady Liberty was only one stop. I also got to go to the Bronx Zoo, ice skate in Bryant Park, have dinner in Little Italy, went to Times Square (I didn't see a cricket though ;-) ), saw Ground Zero and Wall Street. Also, NYC seems to be the best destination to get into the Christmas spirit. Seeing the Christmas Tree at Rockafeller Center and attending The Rockettes Christmas Spectacular really put me in the holiday spirit!!

SCANDAL, MURDER AND LIES....WHAT A REUNION!!

Everyone seems to have FAVORITE television show....As for me, The O.C., Dr. McDreamy and Grey's Anatomy, and Reunion (which not too many people have heard of) provide mass amounts of drama for me to get wrapped up in b/c my life is definitely drama free. Not that a lack of drama is a bad thing, but these shows allow me the little bit of excitement I need to make it through each week, b/c let's just be honest, pharmacy school provides ZERO excitement. I can say that I'm equally obsessed with all three shows, however, in my opinion, Reunion is one of the most underrated shows on television these days!...MAD PROPS go out to the writers of this show b/c after 4 episodes I still can't figure out who's alive, who's dead, who's dating who, and what twist could they possibly throw at us next??....I'm always guessing and it keeps me coming back for more!! So, if you're ever looking for something good to watch....click the photo....read the past episode summaries and have your own little reunion Thursday nights on Fox after the OC!!!

A sight like this is encouraging, and I hope the days get brighter as they pass. Despite the dark times and difficult road ahead, I am thankful that my family is okay, and I still have a home that is standing. Structures can be replaced, that's what insurance is for, but you only get one family and I thank God mine walked away from this tragedy unharmed. I pray that this recovery period is shorter than we all anticipate and that the tropics calm down to give us time to rebuild. My thoughts and prayers are with friends and family on the Coast. I love them all dearly and I would be there with them for support and to help, however the U of M Medical Center thinks my place is in Jackson. Not a minute goes by that I don't think of them.

This view of my hometown of Gulfport, MS illustrates what is left of the Grand Casino Gulfport. My favorite mexican restaraunt was in this area and if I had known the Easter holidays would have been my last meal there, I think I would have appreciated it much more. Sorry Blake, but no more El Mexicana margarita special for us. This area is only a few blocks from my the hospital where I work on weekends and my dad's demolished law firm.

Posting these terrible photos contradict the purpose of this blog, but I had to address this topic. I have never seen so much destruction in my life. My family and I are lifelong residents of the MS Gulf Coast and it just breaks my heart every time a new group of photos is posted somewhere on the web. This building was once the Tivoli Hotel in Biloxi. It was never operational during my lifetime, but the debris filled slab in front used to be the home of the Biloxi Yacht Club. I took sailing lessons here as a child, spent my summers in this pool and even had my 5th birthday party here. Now all that is left is a concrete slab and a lot of wood.

LONDON CALLING...

We made it back to London safely, about 5 days after the July 7th bombings with a few days for me to check out good old Londontown...I was so glad to finally make it back after a small delay at the Ciampino Airport in Rome and finally see this wonderful city that Blake calls home...until November ;-)...Anywho, I was able to see Big Ben and Parliament, take a 30 minute "flight" on the London Eye, hang out with the lions at Trafalgar Square, see Piccadilly Circus and took a short trip out to Oxford/Oxfordshire, UK...and despite the bombings, we managed to safely travel via the "tubes" a few times while I was there....I wish I had more time to visit again, because I definitely wasn't ready to go when the time came....just ask Blake and the nice employees at Heathrow Airport, London who all had to see my puffy red eyes and tears running down my face on the day of my departure. I did manage to make it safely back to Knoxville and get back into the old routine, which seems a little boring after you've become a "world traveller". I'll be back soon enough, but I'll just enjoy the memories for now!!

REPUBLIKA HRVATSKA....

Aside from being one of the most gorgeous places I have ever seen, Croatia turned out to also be one of the vacation hot spots for many Europeans. While in Croatia, Blake and I chatted it up with two Irish Families and many of the huge boats or yachts so to speak (they were way bigger than anything I'd ever seen), were from Germany and a few Scandinavian countries....Our arrival in Croatia was a little unsettling for me however, the people and festivities going on over the next few days eased my mind and made Croatia a new favorite destination!!

The streets were filled as far as the eye could see with people at the opening ceremonies for the Dubrovnik Summer Festival 2005...a festival dedicated to the Arts. (Click to see more..)

So, I have had an exciting few weeks...on July 6th I flew to London to visit Blake...and let me tell you...the terrorist attacks couldn't phase me...well for long!! I was lucky enough to have him at the airport the morning I arrived because had he been at home in Central London, there's no telling what would have happened, considering that is where all the bombings were taking place. We were fortunate enough to stay out of the city and our trip to Rome and Dubrovnik, Croatia wasn't hindered at all....well for me at least, poor Blake had to go with the clothes on his back and a travel kit since we were unable to get back to his place, but we got him some new things in Rome and it all turned out A-OKAY!!!

So, I made my way with a group of friends to the Smokey Mountain National Park and made the 6 mile hike through Cades Cove to Abrams Falls. The scenery was beautiful, like nothing I'd ever really seen before...I hate to say, my family has always been sun and beach people so trips to the mountains were often dismissed...but the scenery was beautiful, the hike was a little rough, but despite my huffing and puffing from exhaustion (and a change in altitude..haha) I made it the whole way relatively unharmed and some good pictures to illustrate our efforts.

Oh, and who's head is Matt trying to squish like a bug....can you say "HA-LLOO!!" Also, the brown blob between some trees is a deer but its head is down and not visible...so a professional photographer I am not, but it was a nice effort!

Everyone has there own way of celebrating "late nights" after you've successfully made it home from the bar, no matter how intoxicated you may be. Well, my roommates and I are definitely no different. I skipped out on this activity a lot last summer and boy am I ever sorry that I did because (that is if you can't tell by the photos) I MISSED OUT ON ONE HECK OF A GOOD TIME!! Everyone should have a good "Bag-O-Fun" and wear whatever is in it...there are no limits here people, ANYTHING GOES!! With costume changes, singing and dancing, you're always in for a treat!!

I mean really...who wouldn't want to be THIS HOTT? Is that Cory with a horn in the background, or a funnel?...umm, yeah that's definitely a funnel!!

Pope John Paul II was has been the leader of the Roman Catholic Church for the extent of my 24 years on this earth. I would definitely say he has had one of the most trying and difficult jobs imaginable. However, John Paul II managed to bring those of different faiths and races together with his message of peace and harmony. Over the past few years I have kept up with news of the pontiff and his failing health. We all knew this day would come eventually, and although it is sad, we know that he was welcomed into heaven this past weekend and we pray that the Lord will guide the College of Cardinals to elect a proper successor. The Lord has blessed the world through his works, and hopefully his good works and deeds will continue in his absence....

Oh Melissa...Happy Birthday to you!! Many wouldn't consider being born on April Fools Day a good thing, but last night we showed everyone in Oxford just how good it could be!! After a rather stressful day of class - tests, instructors yelling at us as if we were first-graders, and cheaters being kicked out of an exam....then coming back in, going out, in, out....the madness just wouldn't stop - WE NEEDED GOOD TIMES TO ENJOY!! So enjoy it we did, the pictures can attest to that!

Well apparently, the peeps are tired of being kicked around, blown up in microwaves, stretched apart and then eaten. There's Nothing Like a Good Tune..

Well, I just got the self titled SK6ERS CD in the mail today and it is AWESOME!!! Nothing makes me happier than a good tune! I'll be honest, when I went to the Sister Hazel concert in Washington DC this past June, I NEVER expected to fall in love with the opening act....but I sure did!! These boys have come a long way since last June and I can't wait to see them again. They've been said to "Inspire obsessive devotion" by the Winston Salem Journal, and they have "Tunes that take over your waking thoughts!" according to The Boston Globe. I encourage everyone to try it out and take a listen, you be pleasantly suprised and you might become a die hard fan yourself!! Good job SK6ERS!! I just cant get enough!

With just under 15 hours to go until spring training is underway, I feel that I shoud say a few words about the 2004 DEFENDING WORLD SERIES CHAMPS, the BOSTON RED SOX. Well boys, for the last 86 years, you have persisted. You've given it your all day in and day out through the days of Ted Williams, Oil Can Boyd, and yes, you even survived the Bill Buckner Tragedy of '86. In 2004, it finally paid off. For the first time in 13 years shy of a centry, you will begin the new season with a whole new agenda. All I can say is, Good Luck and Best Wishes....I'll be behind you every step of the way!
